Conquering fear through Hypnotherapy.

CONQUERING FEAR THROUGH HYPNOTHERAPY.

Do you embrace love, life and the opportunities that come your way fearlessly or are you like a scared little mouse whose fears set your whiskers a trembling and stop you from experiencing your life fully?

I hope not, but fear is like an unseen disability which left untreated can become a crippling disease.

Some of our fears are obvious yet others lay just behind our consciousness for fear likes to take us unawares.

We then stop our dash for the tasty cheese of life and tell ourselves we are satisfied with the mouldy crumbs that someone else has left behind.

BUT WHAT IS FEAR?

Fear is our survival instinct and warns us when we are in danger.  It protects our bodies and also our egos.

So although fear has it's place in our lives and does a wonderful job in keeping us safe, it does a much better job in keeping us stuck.  Stuck in our old patterns of behaviour and stuck in our old ways of relating to ourselves and each other for.....   There are  countless fears and they are called by many names, but FEAR IS NEVER OUR FRIEND.

FEAR ATTRACTS FEAR.

Fear is a very powerful emotion and grows by feeding on itself.  The more we fear, the more that we discover what there is to fear.  Indeed our fears can become so powerful, that we can end up attracting to us the very things we are afraid of.

I remember reading a newspaper article a number of years ago about a brutal rape in broad daylight of a young woman in my home town.  She had only recently relocated there because she suffered from a terrible fear of being raped and had thought by living here she would be safer than in the city where she had previously resided.   BUT NO! for now she had finally attracted to her the very thing she was most fearful of.... being raped.

You see, her fear had become so powerful she could not leave it behind.  She may have changed location but instead of escaping, she brought it with her and ran right into it.

FEAR IS COMMON.

Fear is common to us all, it is just the shape of our fears that vary.  In fact, it appears that no matter what there is in our world, we are able to attach a fear to it.  But whatever our fears may look like on the surface, underlying each, we will find the same constant themes.

The fear of....

All of these fears can ultimately be traced back to the primal fear of survival that we all carry deeply within us.

Some of our fears have been a part of our lives for so long and have become so familiar to us that we believe that they are just a part of who we are.  But this doesn't have to always be the case.

So let us stop tying our tails in a knot and go ahead and make some changes.

HYPNOTHERAPY CAN HELP YOU.

The technique of Hypnotherapy, a gentle, effective and proven process, allows us to connect to our unconscious mind.  It is here that all our knowledge is held and from where, with professional direction, we are able to......
  • Identify our fears.
  • Discover how they are affecting our lives.
  • Safely confront our fears.
  • Ultimately overcome our fears.
Positive reinforcement then given while in the hypnotic state will then transform the previous conditioning of the unconscious and provide fertile ground for the seeds of trust and fearlessness to take root and grow.

A CASE STUDY.

Conquering fear can be a simple process, as a client, let's call her Heather, can testify.  She came to see me to overcome her fear of flying.  Her new job meant a relocation abroad and from there frequent interstate travel.  All involving flying.  Naturally she was terrified at how she would cope.  As we worked together we discovered her fear was not of flying itself, but of being trapped in an enclosed space.  This, we traced back to an event in her childhood, whereupon she had become accidentally locked in a cupboard.

After releasing the trauma of this incident and receiving techniques for diffusing anxiety when faced with her old fear in the future, she left after our second session, happy and confident.  I received a thank you letter a few months later where she expressed her joy at being able to enjoy flying for the first time in her life, and how she would now ride in lifts, just for fun.

So let's not waste another day on fear.
